Portrait of Andrei Calugar

Hi, I'm Andrei. I build production software, fast, efficient and mostly solo.

Full-stack engineer working across React, TypeScript, Next.js, Node and Python, with AI-accelerated development. I take products from empty repo to live in production.

Currently building my own products. Previously frontend at Saxo Bank. MSc from DTU Copenhagen.

Selected work

A few things I've designed, built, and shipped. Usually end to end, usually solo.

  • Sole architect and developer of a full production system for a European velomobile manufacturer: order configurator, production scheduling, and a shop-floor app. Taken live in roughly 10 weeks.

Private client project, so the system itself isn't public. Case study coming soon.

    • Next.js
    • TypeScript
    • Supabase / Postgres
    • plpgsql
    • Vercel
  • An AI tool that reads a creator's competitors' best-performing Instagram content and returns ready-to-film content briefs. Not another dashboard, an actual decision on what to make next.

    • Next.js
    • Claude API
    • n8n
    • Apify
    • Supabase
  • Job-Match Tool: built in public

    Coming soon

A tool that ingests job ads, cross-references them against your CV, and generates a tailored CV and outreach for each one. Documented openly as I build it.

    • Next.js
    • TypeScript
    • LLM

About

I'm a full-stack engineer with six years across the stack. Three of them at Saxo Bank on trading-platform frontend, plus backend work in C#/.NET at SimCorp, and an MSc from DTU Copenhagen. These days I work mostly for myself: building my own products, taking on select client projects, and shipping whole systems solo by leaning hard on AI-accelerated development.

I care about the same things in every project: real problems, whole systems, actually shipped. When I'm not at the keyboard I'm usually on a bike somewhere, or climbing walls. I love watching Formula 1, and recently discovered storytelling through video as a way to express myself creatively.

Questions

Are you open to full-time roles?

Yes. Remote, or hybrid around Copenhagen. I'm selective rather than closed: the work has to be something I'd choose to build. Frontend-heavy or full-stack both work.

Do you take freelance and contract work?

Yes, and it's most of what I do right now. I take a small number of projects at a time so each one gets shipped properly rather than parked.

What does 'built solo' actually mean?

Architecture, database, backend, frontend, deployment, with no team to hand pieces to. AI-accelerated development is what makes the timelines possible; the judgement about what to build is still mine.

How fast can you start?

Usually within a week or two. Book a call and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit before we talk scope.

Let's build something

Open to Copenhagen-based roles, remote, freelance and contract work, and interesting collaborations. If you've got a problem worth solving, let's talk.
